HISTORY

In November of 2020, a committee involving members of the Northwest Board of Education, Northwest Education Foundation, Northwest Athletic Boosters and Northwest Fine Arts Boosters came together to discuss needs across the Northwest District and to collaborate on improving opportunities for Northwest students.

There have been a couple of upgrades put into place by the Board of Education in the past year.  The Rosencrants Gymnasium has newly installed upgraded bleachers, the floor has been sanded and resurfaced, walls painted, and ceiling grid cleaned.  The Biology and Chemistry labs are also receiving a complete overhaul and will provide state of the art facilities for our students.

Through the generous donation from JBS and the Stueven Foundation, the auditorium is also receiving a makeover.  New seating, carpet, paint, lights and curtain will be installed for the 2021-2022 school year.

With these projects in place and addressing needs inside of the High School building, the joint committee focused on the outside facilities.  Viking Field is in need of an upgrade, including the field, lights and bleachers.  In addition to the field and bleacher upgrades, additional practice space for athletics and fines arts will be provided in the proposed Field House.

Funds raised through the capital campaign for the Viking Field (Athletic Complex) Renovation and Addition Campaign will include:

Installation of Field Turf Surfacing to the field

Installation of new home ADA compatible grandstands

New and updated press box

New LED Field Lights

Updated Scoreboard

Installation of a ticket booth creating an official entrance to Viking Field

Addition of a Fieldhouse addressing the needs of our youth, containing:

Full size synthetic court that can be used by athletic teams as well as fine arts programs

Team rooms

Public restrooms

Multipurpose room (wrestling, cheerleading, dance team, golf)

Expanded locker room and training area
